Take Action: Ask Congress For Public Health Funding in FY27

Local health departments are working diligently to keep communities healthy and safe in the face of concurrent public health challenges, major international events, and ongoing outbreaks. As you know, federal investments are key to local health department's ability to effectively provide crucial services, protect people, and prepare for and prevent costly emergencies. As the House of Representatives works on the bill that provides funding for federal health agencies, we need your help to ensure that Congress allocates robust funding levels for the upcoming fiscal year. As a local leader, you are an important and trusted source of information for federal policymakers. Sustained, predictable federal funding represents a commonsense investment from Congress that can secure the health of families and protect the economic prosperity of communities across the country.

Updates and Resources for LHDs Actively Engaged in New World Screwworm Response Efforts

With New World screwworm having been detected in the United States, NACCHO is monitoring the situation and sharing timely updates and resources to help local health departments prepare and respond. Ebola Outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda: Resources for Local Health Departments 

On May 19, CDC issued a Health Alert Network (HAN) Advisory about an outbreak of Ebola virus disease (EVD) caused by the Bundibugyo virus in Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda. On May 15, CDC issued a Level 1 Travel Health Notice for people traveling to Uganda and a Level 3 Travel Health Notice for people traveling to DRC. NACCHO is actively monitoring the situation and working to ensure local health departments have the timely information and resources they need to respond. Click here to learn more about recent updates.
